Dialpad vs Grasshopper: what each costs, and which one dials

By Abhi Chawla, founder · Last updated October 28, 2026

Dialpad charges per user; Grasshopper charges per account. That one difference decides most comparisons of the two. For a team that makes outbound calls there is a second one the comparisons skip: neither product can work through a call list.

One correction to the page that ranks first. Grasshopper’s own Dialpad comparison prices five Dialpad users at $75 against Solo Plus at $25, which is right on the invoice, but Solo Plus gives those five people one shared number and three extensions; a number each means Small Business at $55 plus $9 for every number past 4. Part of the same page’s savings example prices Google Voice, not Dialpad.

Dialpad vs Grasshopper cost: the month for 1 to 10 people

3$25$45$237$168
5$25$75$395$280
10$25$150$790$560

A month billed yearly, October 2026. Grasshopper's cheapest plan for the headcount: True Solo for one, Solo Plus (one shared number) for more. Dialpad per user, before taxes, fees and the Sell Premium dialer's calling credits. The DialSheet column assumes every person dials: $29 first seat, $29 each after, plus each rep's Twilio at 100 dials a day from perRepTelephony() (21 working days, 25% voicemail, 10% connects at 3 minutes, both call legs, one number each). In practice it runs beside one of the phone lines, for the people who dial.

Grasshopper, any team$25Solo Plus, one shared number
Dialpad, five users$75Connect Standard, yearly
One DialSheet rep$56100 dials a day, all in
Grasshopper + 3 reps dialing$193Solo Plus plus DialSheet

Where we lose, in numbers. If nobody dials lists, DialSheet adds cost and nothing else: Grasshopper at $25 a month is the whole phone bill for a team that answers calls. And a rep who single-line dials past about 189 numbers a day on a yearly plan pays less on Dialpad Sell Premium, minutes bundled, before its dialer credits. Below that volume, or paying by the month, a DialSheet seat beside the phone line is the cheaper way to give reps a dialer.

What neither one does for a team that dials

Both are phone lines. A rep on Grasshopper or Dialpad Connect clicks a number, waits through the rings, logs the outcome somewhere else and clicks the next one. Dialpad’s fix is Sell Premium at $79 a user, where the progressive Dialpad Dialer runs campaigns inside a Contact Center and draws outbound calling credits (prices for every tier are on Dialpad pricing). Grasshopper has no fix; it does not sell a dialer.

DialSheet loads the list from a CSV, Google Sheets or the API and dials it: Power Dial one number after another, or the parallel dialer ringing 2–5 lines for one rep, screening voicemail and connecting the first person who answers. Calls go out on your own Twilio numbers, so the Grasshopper or Dialpad line keeps taking inbound calls as before.

DialSheet's parallel dialer rings several lines at once, screens voicemail, and connects the first person who answers. Watch the video or open it on YouTube.

What people complain about

Grasshopper

Charges past the advertised price, refusals on refund requests, and a texting registration that several r/VOIP and r/EntrepreneurRideAlong threads say took repeated, paid attempts to get approved (read October 28, 2026). The pricing page itself lists the $19.50 registration and $1.50 monthly messaging fee beside the plan price. One number for a whole team on Solo Plus.

Dialpad

Taxes and fees above the card price, texting that GetVoIP’s comparison (September 2, 2026) reports is capped at 250 messages a user a month before charges, a learning curve on the AI features, and a dialer two tiers above the plan most teams buy.

What DialSheet does not do

If you are buying for a team

A DialSheet team is $29 for the first seat and $29 for each rep after it, with no minimum, and only the people who dial need a seat. What ships in that seat for a manager: assign leads to reps, or let the team work a shared pool; a caller ID per rep, pinned to that rep; shared call scripts, so a new hire opens the same way as the floor; a team dashboard: assigned, connected, meetings booked, no-answers and talk time per rep, over any date range. Our published independent insurance agency runs its outbound calling on it. If a dialer-carrying phone system is on the shortlist too, MightyCall vs Dialpad prices the two that sell one, and Dialpad alternatives ranks the rest.

Two ways to run DialSheet: your own Twilio at ~$0.014/min, or a managed line with a local number and minutes included. Watch the video or open it on YouTube.
The free plan: 500 calls a month for $0 on your own Twilio, and when a $29 Pro seat with parallel dialing is worth it. Watch the video or open it on YouTube.

Dialpad vs Grasshopper questions

Is Dialpad or Grasshopper better for a sales team?

For a team that dials lists, DialSheet beside either one: neither Dialpad Connect nor Grasshopper has a list dialer, and DialSheet puts a power dialer and a 2–5 line parallel dialer in a $29 seat, month to month, with no seat minimum, about $56 a month for one rep at 100 dials a day. Between the two phone systems, Dialpad gives every user a number, AI transcripts and meetings at $15 a user yearly; Grasshopper gives a whole team one shared number for $25 a month yearly. Dialpad's own dialer needs Sell Premium at $79 a user.

How much does Grasshopper cost per month?

As of October 28, 2026, Grasshopper is $14 a month (True Solo, one user), $25 (Solo Plus, unlimited users, one number, three extensions) and $55 (Small Business, unlimited users, 4 numbers) billed yearly, or $18, $32 and $70 monthly. Extra numbers are $9 a month; business texting needs a $19.50 registration and $1.50 a month; sales tax is added. There is no dialer on any plan. DialSheet, which adds one, is free for one person, with a list of up to 500 leads and 500 calls a month, then $29/month per seat.

What does Dialpad vs Grasshopper cost for five people?

Five people on Dialpad Connect Standard are $75 a month billed yearly, each with a number. Five on Grasshopper Solo Plus are $25 a month, sharing one number and three extensions, or $55 on Small Business with 4 numbers. Neither price includes a dialer. If three of the five dial lists, Grasshopper Solo Plus plus three DialSheet seats at 100 dials a day each comes to about $193 a month, against $237 for three Dialpad Sell Premium seats before dialer credits.

Does Grasshopper have a dialer?

No. Grasshopper is a virtual phone line: calls, forwarding, extensions, texting, voicemail transcription and, from Solo Plus, call recording and an IVR. A rep calls one number at a time by hand. Dialpad's dialer sits on Sell Premium ($79 a user yearly) inside a Contact Center. DialSheet runs Power Dial on its free plan and a 2–5 line parallel dialer in Pro at $29/month per seat, on your own Twilio numbers, so it works beside a Grasshopper line that keeps taking inbound calls.

Who is Dialpad's biggest competitor?

As a phone system, most comparisons name RingCentral (~$20–35 a user) first, with Aircall (~$30–50), Nextiva, 8x8, MightyCall, Quo and Grasshopper behind. For outbound calling the list changes: DialSheet (a power and 2–5 line parallel dialer at $29 a seat, month to month, no minimum), MightyCall Power ($54 a user, 3-user minimum), JustCall, CloudTalk, Kixie and PhoneBurner.

What are the main competitors of Grasshopper phone?

Grasshopper's own comparison pages name eVoice, FreedomVoice, GoDaddy SmartLine, MightyCall, Mitel, Phone.com, RingCentral, Quo (formerly OpenPhone) and Dialpad. Those are all phone lines. If the reason for switching is that reps need to work through a call list, the comparison is with a dialer: DialSheet runs beside a Grasshopper number with a power dialer and a 2–5 line parallel dialer in a $29 seat, about $56 a month for one rep at 100 dials a day.
